Water Line Break Response and Service Update – April 26, 2025
4/26/2025
On the evening of April 25, the City of Carbondale Public Works Department responded to two separate water line breaks. Crews quickly mobilized and began necessary repairs to restore service to affected areas.
As of midnight, water service has been restored to residents in the areas of 4th Street, Melody Lane, and Melody Court. One residence remains without water service at this time. Public Works is actively working today to complete repairs and restore service to that address.
Residents in the affected area may notice cloudy water over the next few days. According to Supervisor Dustin Bretsnyder, this is a common occurrence following water line repairs and should resolve on its own with continued use. The water remains safe to use.
Mayor Anthony DaPrato has personally reached out to the resident still experiencing an outage and will continue to stay in contact until service is fully restored.
Crews will return on Monday morning to complete hole backfilling and cleanup at the work sites. We kindly ask that residents avoid any areas marked by city barriers. These zones are considered active work sites, and the barriers are in place to ensure the safety of both the public and our workers.
